Monthly Programs

The Brant Heritage Quilter's Guild presents a program each month at the Guild’s regular meeting.  All are welcome to attend and there is a $3.00 fee, payable at the entrance, for non-members.

Programs continuing for the duration of the season:

Block-of-the-Month

Each month the guild offers a kit for a toonie ($2.00), which contains a block pattern and a small piece of fabric.  This year 2009/2010, the theme for the Block-of-the-Month will be TO BE ANNOUNCED. The block is made up according to the directions and returned the following month and a random draw is made from the names of the people who have submitted a block.  The winner receives all of the blocks turned in and there is usually enough to put together a full sized quilt.

This is a truly fun program and a wonderful way to learn about quilting. One block at a time!

TheBag Lady's Program

The Bag Lady's program is a monthly challenge program where members join for the entire year.  In September, each person who joins the program and pays the fee receives a ‘bag’ which contains a fat quarter, instructions as to how the program works, and a one word ‘theme’.  All the containers will have different ‘themes’.  The members use a small bit of the enclosed fabric and any technique they wish to make a block in the ‘theme’ subject.  The containers are returned each month and each member gets another container, and so on for 9 months.

At the end of the program in June, there is a random draw and everyone who joined the program will receive a container and all the blocks contained therein!  It is an exciting program and it is hoped that over the summer each person will make up their blocks for show and tell in September!

Pre Meeting Mini Presentations

Almost every month (except when the presenter is away), ½ hr. before the regular meeting begins, one of the members presents a short ½ hour demonstration on some quilting technique.  It’s always a surprise and there is usually a handout covering the topic.  These mini presentations begin at 7:00 PM sharp and are held upstairs in the Church parlour.  The regular monthly meetings begin at 7:30 PM

SNEAK PREVIEW

Brant Heritage Quilter's Guild
U.F.O. JACKPOT CHALLENGE – September, October, November 2009
(Creative Ongoing Projects)

The Objective of this U.F.O. Jackpot Challenge is to encourage our membership to finish/complete those u.f.o. projects that have been languishing in the closets and sewing rooms for a very long time.

If you were not at the May meeting, you will want to know about the upcoming jackpot challenge for next year!!  We’ve decided to give you a sneak preview in June.

This project will provide an incentive to everyone.  It works like this:

1.  During September, October and November 2009, any member will be able to register whatever U.F.O. projects they plan to work on.  Each item can be registered with the Program Registrar, Bonnie Greenwood, for a toonie per item.  The toonie will be paid in when you register your u.f.o.’s

2.  Each time a member completes a registered U.F.O. and displays it during show and tell at a guild meeting  before June 2010, your name will be entered in a draw and the lucky person whose name is drawn in June 2010 will receive the entire jackpot in cash!

The more projects you complete, the more chances to win.  What an incentive!

So let’s get those projects registered and completed for a chance at the jackpot!!

Now, here’s the best part.  We have decided to let you get a head start and will begin registering U.F.O.’s at this upcoming June meeting.  Remember that if you’ve won the block-of-the-month squares – that becomes a U.F.O.  When you get your “Bag Lady” blocks in June, that too becomes a U.F.O.  Did you start another project last month?  That is now a U.F.O.

Take some digital pictures of your U.F.O.’s,  print on regular paper and bring along to the June meeting (along with your toonies) and register early!!!  You can work on them over the summer break and get a head start on winning the JACKPOT!!!

There will be lots of ‘official’ registration forms at the June meeting.

Any questions?  Call Kay Boyd at 519-753-7542 or kay.boyd@sympatico.ca
