“Hunter Star Wallhanging or Quilt”
This workshop is for confident beginners and intermediate quilters. The pattern may
look complicated, but the technique taught makes it simple, you only need to know how
to sew a scant ¼ “ seam.
Instructor: Ally Bryant. Ally has been quilting since 1979 and is primarily a hand
quilter and is especially fond of paper piecing. She joined our Guild in 2004 and was
involved with the Spring Retreat for three years. Since she retired, Ally has taught
beginner quilting classes at the Beckett Centre in Brantford.

Location: Hayhurst Meeting room, 36 Hayhurst Rd., Brantford, ON
Cost: Members $20.00 Non Members $25.00. Space is limited. Enroll early to
assure a space in the workshop. Registrations are accepted on a first come basis.
Material Requirements: A handout will be provided when you have registered and paid
your fee. Some preparation prior to class may be required.
Requests for Refunds must be made in writing and will be provided in full up to one
week prior to class, less a $5.00 administration fee. After that time, no refunds can be
made.

“Turning Cheater Panels into Artwork”
Learn how to turn a “cheater panel” into artwork by adding a few details, embellishment
and machine sewing. You can bring a cheater panel of your choice or puchase one
from Peggy Kwan.
Instructor: Peggy Kwan. Peggy is a member of the Markham Guild of Village Crafts
and a registered teacher with the Ontario Quilting Connection. A Registered Nurse in
Sunnybrook Health Science Centre, Peggy has been quilting for 20 years. She moved
from quilting as a past-time hobby to teaching her “unique” look. Some of you may
remember Peggy from our 2008 Spring Reatreat, where she taught “Origami Flowers”.
